The people behind Marquis MD.

Leadership

Paul Lopez serves as Chief Executive Officer of Marquis MD, bringing more than 27 years of healthcare leadership experience to the organization. At Marquis MD, Mr. Lopez leads the team in building a concierge medicine platform designed to disrupt the current market, rooted in a hospitality-in-healthcare philosophy and a fundamentally better healthcare experience, one defined by time, trust, and lasting relationships between physician and member.

A results-driven executive with deep expertise in operations, clinical strategy, and value-based care, Mr. Lopez has spent his career building and scaling healthcare organizations around a simple idea: care improves when the people delivering it have the time, support, and structure to do it well.

Before joining Marquis MD, Mr. Lopez held senior operating roles at ICBD business family companies, most recently as President of Market Operations, with full P&L accountability for operations across 20 states. He previously served as President of Monogram Health, a national in-home, multi-specialty care provider, where he was accountable for more than $2 billion in annual revenue and led delivery of care to more than 70,000 individuals managing kidney disease and complex chronic conditions across the East Region.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Lopez held a series of executive roles at ChenMed, including Division President and Regional President, where he owned profit and loss for value-based care operations generating up to $1.5 billion in annual revenue across markets from Florida to the Northeast. He also served as Chief Clinical Operations Officer at Prospect Medical Systems, where he led the design and rollout of in-home care and disease management programs that reduced hospital admissions and readmissions for high-risk populations. His background also includes senior positions at ConcertoHealth, CareMore Health System, and IBM’s healthcare division.

Mr. Lopez holds a master’s degree from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach.

Pamela Westberg is a seasoned healthcare executive whose 20-year career spans concierge medicine, large health systems, and behavioral health. As Chief Operating Officer of Marquis MD, she brings a rare combination of operational precision, financial acumen, and people-centered leadership to one of South Florida’s premier concierge medicine practices.

Her Master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology is the thread that runs through everything she does, translating the science of human behavior into real-world healthcare strategy, stronger teams, and better patient outcomes. This lens gives her an innate ability to see the full picture in any healthcare environment: the systems, the culture, and the human dynamics driving outcomes across the field.

Her practical experience spans concierge medicine, where she has guided practitioners from volume to value; large health systems, where she served as Director of Operations at Baptist Health South Florida and later as Chief Strategy Officer overseeing Florida’s mental health and opioid federal funding; and behavioral health, where she developed a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver care that treats the whole person.

Dr. Bharath Thankavel brings more than two decades of experience spanning clinical medicine, payer strategy, and health system leadership. He began his career as a Pediatric Hospitalist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he served as Assistant Professor and sat on the Medical Executive Committee.

Dr. Thankavel went on to build Children’s Health’s Home Care department, scaling it to serve over 1,500 patients before joining Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas as Medical Director of Value-Based Care, where he partnered with 31 ACOs covering 1.8 million members statewide. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Network Integration & Cardiovascular Services at HCA/Medical City Healthcare, overseeing 16 cardiac programs in North Texas.

He served as a Texas Gubernatorial appointee to the Statewide Healthcare Coordinating Council, a Board Member of the North Texas Commission, and is an alumnus of Leadership Dallas.

His expertise is in advancing clinical quality, aligning strategy, deepening partnerships, and supporting the teams who deliver care every day. His career reflects a sustained effort to understand healthcare from multiple vantage points and to use that perspective to build organizations that perform.

Boca Edition

Dr. Christine Crocker is a board certified physician specializing in internal medicine and wellness, with extensive expertise in comprehensive adult healthcare at Marquis MD in Boca Raton. She believes good medicine begins with knowing the whole person, taking the time to understand the history, goals, and daily life of those in her care, and building trust that deepens over the years.

Raised in a family of distinguished academics, she earned her bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Virginia before discovering her calling in medicine. She completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, then built a thriving practice in her hometown outside Pittsburgh, caring for a community carrying a heavy burden of illness. She is a recipient of the prestigious Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award from the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI). Throughout her career she has been recognized repeatedly as a Best Doctor, earning the trust and admiration of colleagues and the people in her care.

Her clinical focus reaches well beyond treating illness. She incorporates weight management, hormone replacement therapy, functional medicine, and longevity medicine into her practice, always grounded in evidence but with an eye on trends, she prioritizes health span, (years lived in full health) as much as lifespan.

Now bringing a decade of experience and a deeply personal approach to Marquis MD, Dr. Crocker practices medicine the way she has always believed it should be, where every member is treated like family and every relationship matters. Whether helping a member navigate a complex cancer diagnosis by connecting them with the right specialists or partnering toward an important health goal before a milestone event, her philosophy is simple: to care for each member as she would her own family.

Dr. Douglas Barlow is a board certified pediatrician who brings more than three decades of experience to the children and families of Marquis MD in Boca Raton. He has devoted his entire career to young people, from their first days through the college years.

He earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Much of his career has unfolded in Boca Raton, where he founded his own practice, served as Chief of Pediatrics at Boca Raton Community Hospital, and was team pediatrician for the Florida Panthers. He has held associate professor appointments in pediatrics and is fluent in Spanish.

His commitment reaches beyond the exam room. He led pediatric care at a field hospital in Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina and served three tours as chief pediatrician in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake.

Ask Dr. Barlow what sets his care apart and the answer is time. He sits down, listens without hurry, and treats parents as the true experts on their own child. He has cared for children who are parents themselves today, and Marquis MD now lets him give every family the unhurried time and steady continuity that pediatrics has too often lost.
